PURPOSE: An apparatus and a method for reducing inputs in a program logic control are provided to apply encode scheme using a diode matrix to the program logic control(PLC) so as to reduce inputs of the PLC. CONSTITUTION: The program logic control(PLC) is supplied with signals applied to the input ports thereof from the exterior, and executes predetermined program to output the results. The PLC includes an input converting device. The input converting device(A) encodes the plurality of inputs applied from the exterior to supply the result BCD(binary coded decimal) values to the input ports. The input converting device(A) encodes the inputs by the diode matrix. The input converting device(A) has a power supply end for supplying a driving power to the diode matrix.
