PURPOSE: A geogrid having excellent strength in the weft and warp direction and formation stability by improving contact strength between wefts and warps and a process for preparing polyester yarn suitable for use in the same are provided. Therefore, the obtained polyester yarn has excellent adhesion to PVC, high strength, low yarn breaking and low shrinkage. CONSTITUTION: The geogrid has a strength percentage in the warp direction of 32% or more, a strength in the warp direction of 8.1g/d or more, a strength in the weft direction of 6.7g/d or more, a strength in the warp direction of 1.5g/d or more when extended to 2% and a strength in the warp direction of 2.3g/d or more when extended to 5%. The polyester yarn for the manufacture of polyester has a strength of 8.5g/d or more, a dry heat shrinkage factor of 12% or less, a strength of 1.5g/d or more when extended to 2%, a strength of 4.0g/d or more when extended to 5% and 0.5 to 2.0% by weight of an isocyanate compound.
