BIOMEDIA USING POLYVINYL ACETAL

PURPOSE: Provided are biomedia using polyvinyl acetal which is excellent in adhesiveness of microorganism, thereby enhancing water treatment efficiency and can be used regardless of the kind of wastewater. CONSTITUTION: The biomedia is manufactured by i) dissolving polyvinyl acetal in water, adding starch, dextrin, surfactant and formalin to the polyvinyl acetal, heating it to 50-80deg.C by using sulfuric acid or hydrochloric acid as a catalyst, and then repeating washing-and-dewatering to prepare foamed polyvinyl acetal; and ii) forming the foamed polyvinyl acetal into a hexahedral or cylindrical shape of 1-30cm¬2 size to make large surface area.
