PURPOSE: An area reference location registering method is provided to reduce the number of location registration in a radio network by performing an area reference location registration while supporting mobility of a dynamically changing mobile station by allocating an area timer with a different value depending on areas. CONSTITUTION: A controller stores an area list of an area timer value in a registration memory and redundancy information of a plurality of area in a cash memory(S201). The controller detects whether an area of a mobile station is changed(S202). If the area of the mobile station is changed, the controller determines whether previous area information of the mobile station exists in an area list of the area list of the registration memory(S203). If the previous area information exists in the area list, the controller determines whether the previous area information exists in the cash memory(S204). If the previous area information does not exist in the cash memory, the controller sets an area timer value as an initial system timer value(S205). If the previous area information of the mobile station exists in the cash memory, the controller adjusts the order of the cash memory(S206) and sets the value stored in the cash memory as an area timer value(S207). If the previous area information of the mobile station does not exist in the area list of the registration memory(S203), the controller determines whether the previous area information of the mobile station exists in the cash memory(S208). If the previous area information does not exists in the cash memory, the controller sets the area timer value as an initial system timer(S209), and stores the previous area information in the area list of the registration memory(S210). If the previous area information of the mobile station exists in the cash memory, the controller determines whether the redundancy area information has been deleted because a timer has been terminated(S211). If it because of the termination of the timer, the controller assigns an increasing step size of an area timer(S212). If it is not because the termination of the timer, the controller determines that the deletion of the redundancy area information is resulted from saturation of the area list, and assigns an increasing step size of an area timer(S213). The controller increases the area timer value stored in the cash memory according to the increasing step size of the area timer(S214), and stores the previous area information of the mobile station in the area list of the registration memory(S215).
