PURPOSE: A method for driving a plasma display panel is provided to make stable high-speed addressing possible and to prevent error discharge by generating auxiliary discharge in space between scanning electrodes and auxiliary electrodes. CONSTITUTION: The method for driving a plasma display panel includes supplying positive polarity of data pulse to the data electrodes and negative polarity of scanning pulse to the scanning electrodes and generating address discharge. The positive polarity of auxiliary discharge pulse is supplied to the auxiliary electrodes formed parallel with the data electrodes upon address discharge to generate auxiliary discharge in space between the scanning electrodes and the auxiliary electrodes. The auxiliary discharge pulse has predetermined pulse width and voltage level.
