SOLUTION: This method comprises bringing the fluorocarbon or chlorofluorocarbon containing hydrogen halides in liquid state into contact with a solid alkali to remove the hydrogen halides. As a preferable mode, the fluorocarbon or chlorofluorocarbon brought into contact with the solid alkali is brought into contact with an adsorbent in liquid state to remove water and/or carbon dioxide.
