PAPER DISCRIMINATING SENSOR

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a paper discriminating sensor capable of inexpensively and accurately discriminating a kind of paper. SOLUTION: A kind of paper P is discriminated on the basis of a reflection characteristic of the light irradiated to the paper P to be discriminated. This paper discriminating sensor is provided with a light emitting element 1 arranged so as to radiate the light to the paper P at a prescribed incident angle, a first light receiving element 2 arranged in the same angle position as the light emitting element l on the opposite side of the light emitting element 1 and a second light receiving element 3 arranged in an angle position being almost 1/2 of the first light receiving element 2 on the opposite side of the light emitting element 1. The light receiving element 2 is arranged in an angle position many in a regular reflection component from the paper P, and the second light receiving element 3 is arranged in an angle position many in a mixed reflection component.
