The invention relates to a process for decorating the glass and to a ribbing device used for carrying out the process. A ribbing paste is applied onto the surface of the glass item, ungreased beforehand with alcohol or with vinegar diluted with water in a ratio of 40 % and possibly chemically matted, the paste being applied onto the outline of a rib-like drawing made in advance, further the ribs applied at room temperature are dried at a temperature ranging from 510 to 530 degree C, for 24 h, said temperature being reached in 2 h and 30 min while maintaining the temperature ranging from 510 to 530 degree C constantly for 15 to 20 min. Further, the surfaces between the ribs are coloured with an ordinary colloidal dye composition, ordinary mineral pigments or colloidal gold, and, finally, the decorated product is dried at room temperature for 24 h at a temperature ranging from 510 to 530 degree C for 15 to 20 min and the final drying phase is followed by the cooling phase in open air for 2 h. The ribbing device comprises a tube (1) provided at a threaded end with a tapered metal replaceable nozzle (2) having an end hole with a diameter ranging from 1 to 5 mm, suitable for the ribbing process, a metal closing system (3) being located at the opposite end, said closing system comprising a fixed section (4 ) and a mobile section (5) which is efficient to tighten the nozzle (2) by means of some screws (6).
