PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a liquid crystal display device attaining reduction in manufacturing cost by simplifying the manufacturing process without lowering the utilization factor of the light. SOLUTION: The liquid crystal display device is characterized by containing a first substrate 30, a first electrode 34 formed on the first substrate, a second substrate 32 placed in parallel with the first substrate, a base layer 36 having fine projecting and recessing parts formed on the surface and formed on one surface of the second substrate, a reflection layer 38 formed on the base layer, a second electrode 42 formed on the second substrate and a liquid crystal layer 48 placed between the first electrode and the reflection layer and making the base layer contain a resin layer and beads dispersed in the resin layer. Decrease of contrast and reduction of brightness are prevented because reflected light can be scattered and diffused without a diffusion plate. Also, the reduction in manufacturing cost is effectively attained because the formation of the projecting and recessing parts in the reflection layer part is enabled via a simple process. |
