PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an apparatus and a method for drying a discoid thin plate capable of reducing manufacturing cost and efficiently drying by preventing readherence of a water droplet. SOLUTION: The discoid thin plate 2 is held between opposed upper and lower walls 6 and 7 of a drying unit 3 made of a side-seen U-shaped case. The droplets adhered to both the front and rear surfaces of the plate 2 are blown out by compressed air simultaneously injected from a plurality of slit-like nozzle openings 8 formed at the walls 6 and 7 of the unit 3, while relatively rotating the unit 3 and the plate 2 at a low peed. The plurality of the openings 8 formed at the walls 6 and 8 of the unit 3 are formed in parallel with one another obliquely slightly atθin the rotating direction of the relative rotation of the unit 3 and the plate 2 with respect to the center line of the longitudinal direction of the walls 6 and 7. The plate 2 is held between the walls 6 and 7 of the unit 3 by at least one drive roller 4 and a plurality of holding rollers 5, and rotated by the rotatable drive of the roller 4.
