PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To make the size of a magnetic head small and enhance the stability of recording and reproducing work. SOLUTION: In the magnetic head 16, first and second rail parts 68a and 68b are projectingly formed on a slider 68 and a groove part 68c is formed between the first rail part 68a and the second rail part 68b. The first rail part 68a is provided with a gap 69a of an upper transducer 69 and the second rail part 68b is provided with a gap 70a and erasing gap 70b of a lower transducer 70. The second rail part 68b is provided with a negative pressure groove 72. Since the width size La of the rail 68a is made small (La<Lb) and the rail part 68b is provided with the negative pressure groove 72, thereby, the pressures Pa and Pb of the rail parts 68a and 68b can be made small, the electromagnetic transducing characteristics by the magnetic heads 16 and 18 are stabilized and the contact of the magnetic heads 16 and 18 with the magnetic disk 52 and the consequent damage thereof do not occur.
