PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a camera excellent in handleability by which information related to the camera is confirmed in a short time without wastefully consuming a battery. SOLUTION: This camera 1 is equipped with a barrier member 3 capable of moving from a totally closed position A to a totally opened position C through a semi-opened position B, a barrier switch for detecting the position of the member 3, a lens barrel 5 holding a photographing lens 4 and capable of moving between a collapsible position and a projecting position, a zoom motor driving circuit for driving and displacing the lens barrel 5, a stroboscope 10 popping up interlocked with the lens barrel 5, an LCD display part displaying the information related to the camera, and a CPU controlling so that the LCD display part is lit according as the member 3 moves from the position A to the position B and further the zoom motor driving circuit is actuated according as the member 3 moves from the position B to the position C.
