PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To suppress a false signal of an image expressed in image data obtained from a honeycomb type CCD without deteriorating the resolution. SOLUTION: An image of an object is picked up by using the honeycomb type CCD where many photoelectric converting elements are arranged in row and column directions, photoelectric converting elements are arranged on odd number rows of odd number columns and arranged on even number rows of even number columns. A low pass filter circuit having a filter characteristic in an oblique direction applies filtering processing to image data obtained by the CCD. A false signal in the oblique direction can be reduced even from an image expressed by the image data obtained from the honeycomb type CCD where the photoelectric conversion elements are arranged in the oblique direction.
