PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a liquid crystal display device in which excluding a protective layer is omitted so as to decrease the manufacturing steps and simultaneously protecting signal lines from corrosion, and its manufacturing method. SOLUTION: In the liquid crystal display device and its manufacturing method, the liquid crystal display device is provided with an array substrate, equipped with signal lines and scanning lines arranged on a principal plane in a matrix and thin film transistors arranged adjacent to respective intersections of the signal and scanning lines and connected with the signal lines, a counter substrate placed opposite to the principal plane of the array substrate and a liquid crystal layer held between the array and counter substrates. The signal lines are formed on the more upper layer than the scanning lines and contain aluminum or an alloy mainly composed of aluminum. Furthermore, aluminum or the alloy mainly composed of aluminum is not exposed.
