PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a highly efficient embedded magnet motor for electric vehicles. SOLUTION: With respect to motors for electric vehicles, the production of a minor loop in the excitation of its armature core is prevented or reduced, and thereby the efficiency of the motor is enhanced by increasing the inclination of the distribution of magnet magnetic flux in the gap between field magnets and an armature between the magnetic poles of the field magnets. In addition, the width of the tips of the armature teeth opposed to the field magnets is so controlled that the width is not loss than the intervals between the adjacent field magnets to obtain a highly efficient embedded magnet motor for electric vehicles. With respect to a control method for the embedded magnet motor for electric vehicles, the angle of lead and magnitude of armature current are controlled, so that the direction of the inclination of magnetic flux distribution in the gap between the filed magnets and the armature between the magnetic poles of the filed magnets is constant, and thereby the production of minor loops is prevented or reduced.
