PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a highly reliable protector for a self-excited converter, in which a fault current discharged from a DC capacitor and a fault current supplied from an AC system can be interrupted even in case of a fault in a DC circuit in the vicinity of the DC capacitor or a converter. SOLUTION: A self-extinguishing thyristor 30 and a diode 31 constituting a switch 29 are provided in series with a DC capacitor 14 and the switch 29 is controlled to open by detecting a fault current 33 discharged from the DC capacitor 14 in case of a fault in a DC circuit. An overcurrent relay 35 is provided on the DC side winding of a linkage transformer 19 and a main circuit breaker 20 is controlled to open by detecting a fault current 34 supplied from an AC system upon occurrence of a fault in the DC circuit. |
