PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical pickup device capable of simplified optical system, easy adjusting process and reduced cost. SOLUTION: The device is equipped with a double wavelength laser diode 102 having two light sources 103a, 103b that emit a laser beam 103a' for a DVD and a laser beam 103b' for a CD, a light receiving member 105 and a beam splitter 101. The beam splitter 101 is provided with a wavelength separating layer 101b consisting of a first and second interfaces 101d, 101e and of an optical thin plate 101c that is interposed between the interfaces and that has a prescribed refractive index n2. The first and second interfaces 101d, 101e are formed with a first and second wavelength selecting films 101d', 101e' which reflect or transmit each laser beam 103a', 103b' at each prescribed rate. After reflected by the first and second interfaces 101d, 101e, the laser beams 103a', 103b' are made to coincide in the optical axes and emitted from the beam splitter 101, a return light from an optical disk is passed through the wavelength separating film 101b and guided to the light receiving member 105. |
