PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electric motor which has high heat radiating property and whose frame is low-cost. SOLUTION: A frame 15 is a cast block 18, which has a cylindrical bore 2 for storing a stator core and the external form of whose cross section vertical to the axis of this bore is substantially rectangular. The cast block 18 has a group of recesses 37, a group of recesses 40, and a group of recesses 43 which are cast to form cooling medium circulating paths, extending in the direction, going severally from the topside or downside of itself to the downside or topside.
