PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an error correction device that can reduce the power consumption and attain high-speed access to memory data. SOLUTION: The error correction device uses a buffer memory 3 having a plurality of banks that consecutively transfers a burst through bank changeover to suppress increase in the memory capacity, access by each of an inner code data rearrangement means 2, an external code correction means 4 and a data rearrangement means 5 to the buffer memory 3 is assigned at least to two banks in the unit of a divided data group and the burst data are consecutively transferred through bank changeover in the unit of a-word (a is a natural number below a data length of inner code data) to reduce the power consumption and to attain high-speed access to memory data.
