PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for measuring fiber diameter distribution and an automatic measuring device for quickly and accurately measuring diameter distribution, without asking for help, and to provide an automatic measuring method and device especially for precisely calculating the diameter distribution of glass fiber. SOLUTION: An image photographed by enlarging fiber is binarized, and the expansion and contraction processing and distance converting processing of the binary image is performed so that a multilevel image expressing the number of pixels existing from each pixel to the outline as a pixel value can be obtained. Then, the thinning processing of the multilevel picture obtained by the distance converting processing is performed so that a skeleton whose pixel value is large can be left, and the distribution of the pixel values can be calculated for the thinned image indicating the skeleton. Thus, the distribution of fiber diameter can be estimated. |
