PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To realize more excellent color quality control. SOLUTION: By adjusting a developing field in the midst of an action, a developing mass (DMA) per previously selected unit area of a black solid area is maintained. In order to estimate the DMA of a black solid control patch existing outside the sensing range of an infrared density meter (IRD), two or more inspection patches having DMA reading ability within the sensing range of the IRD are formed by a patch forming unit. Then, developing voltage corresponding to the DMA reading ability of the inspection patch is sensed and used in order to calculate a developable curve and the developable curve is projected to an area over the sensing area of the IRD. Besides, the black control patch is estimated based on the developable curve and used for adjusting the developing field in a closed feedback loop. |
