<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a cold cathode that has a field-emission-type electron source capable of achieving a high discharge-current density with a low voltage by making up oriented carbon nano-tubes by elongating a substance into which carbon nano-tubes are dispersed, and to provide a manufacturing method of the cold cathode. SOLUTION: On one face of an insulation substrate 7, a gate electrode 8 is made up, and in a through hole 9 formed in the gate electrode 8 and the insulation substrate 7, a substance 2 which has oriented carbon nano-tubes inside it is embedded in a condition in which an end face of an oriented carbon nano-tube la is exposed. An electron source E is structured in this way. On the other face of the insulation substrate 7,.an emitter wiring 11 which contacts with the other end face of the oriented carbon nano-tube is formed.</p> |
