PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a perpendicular magnetic recording medium capable of dealing with the thinner film of a soft magnetic base film inevitably required in the medium manufacturing process, in the perpendicular magnetic recording medium using a perpendicularly magnetized film having high perpendicular magnetic anisotropic energy and high coercive force perpendicular to the film face for dealing with a problem of the thermal fluctuation demagnetization in the magnetic recording hereafter. SOLUTION: The perpendicular magnetic recording medium 1 formed by laminating the soft magnetic base film 3 and the perpendicularly magnetized film 4 on a substrate 2 consisting of a non-magnetic material is characterized in that the relational formula:μ.δb >=1,000 is satisfied, when the magnetic permeability isμand the film thickness of the soft magnetic base film 3 isδb [nm] respectively. |
