PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a camera permitting to reduce photographing (exposure) with a filter effect against user's intention, and also permitting to be speedily reset to the filter-effective state. SOLUTION: A camera provided with a filter optical system arranged in a photographing optical path has a state detection means 15 for detecting the state of the camera, and the filter optical system can operate, and when a state change is detected by the state detection means 15 before performing exposure operation, during operating to set a filter position or after having set the filter position, the filter optical system gives a warning; halts exposure operation even if an exposure operation start means is operated; and performs the filter position setting operation again. When the filter position resetting operation is performed, the reoperation is performed making the filter position at the time of starting the reset operation as a reference position.
