PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a wireless communication system that executes an in-band negotiation procedure without causing any hindrance to a function of an application by indicating a relating between the application (high order level protocol) in a PIAFS procedure and a data link protocol selected by the in-band negotiation procedure so as to clearly depict the selection criterion. SOLUTION: A PIAFS control section has a means to set a type of an application using wireless communication to an in-band negotiation frame, and a mobile station or a terminal adaptor transmits an application type with the protocol type to an opposite party in the in-band negotiation procedure.
