PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a device and a method for processing command, by which the module property of a command processing program in an equipment with a computer system built in is improved and an abbreviated command is complemented or help information is displayed corresponding to the context of an input character string even in the user interface of character base. SOLUTION: While using the input character string read by a command reading part 104, a command correspondence table retrieving part 105 retrieves a command correspondence table 103. Command pattern strings are held on the command correspondence table 103 and the command correspondence table retrieving part 105 acquires a relevant entry by matching for every work of the input character string, displays help information recorded in this entry or acquires the address of a relevant execution function and dispatches it to an execution function executing part 106.
