PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To manage the processing time of a reproduction side when the sound signal of a multi-channel is encoded by variable compressibility. SOLUTION: Prediction circuits 31D1, 31D2, 15D1 to 15D4 and buffer selectors 14D1, 14D2 and 16D1 to 16D4 predictively encode 6 channel sound signals. A DTS generator 17 generate decoding time stamp information showing timing for reading compression data in the input buffer 22a of a decoding side in accordance with prediction/encoding data quantity for respective channels. A formatting circuit 19 formats a packet header including decoding time stamp information and a user data having compression data into a packet. |
