Hybrid optical coupling has fibre optic elements with a double sheath (2). There are slots for cross coupling with an LED and a laser diode (1), which is mounted on a copper plate(8). The size of the slot section is smaller than the projection of the laser diode. The fibre optic and laser diode are integrated in a sealed unit forming a hybrid component having a signal and pump fibre optic (7) cable.
