PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To smoothly perform editing and designing operation by making it easy to use information needed to edit and design a system kitchen. SOLUTION: Data corresponding to characteristics of system kitchen editing and designing such as kind, arrangement, and member information on units constituting the system kitchen to be edited are taken out and constituted into format matching the editing and designing operation. For example, the data are constituted in unit array units of three-stage constitution wherein three kinds of units of the system kitchen for an upper, an intermediate, and a lower stage are put together. Further, the data are constituted into an array of units drawn with one stroke of the pen. Further, a gene type representation is used so that genetic algorithm is applicable to the generation of an alternate plan. Information regarding properties, such as a pattern common to the individual units constituting the object system kitchen, and a customer to be proposed to is given as data in system kitchen units.
