PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a crystal oscillator whose cover is sealed by welding, in which the chipping and cracks of a ceramic package can be prevented. SOLUTION: This crystal oscillator is provided with the ceramic package, consisting of a bottom wall and frame walls each placed at both sides of the bottom wall and on which rectangular recessed parts are formed. A crystal chip is contained in the recessed part of one major side and a cover is sealed with welding, and circuit components are contained in the recessed part of the other major side. Let the radius of curvature of a circle in contact with both sides of a corner of the recessed part at the one major side be R1, and let the radius of curvature of a circle in contact with both sides of a corner of the recessed part at the other major side be R2, then the relation R1<R2 holds.
