摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a solid-state image pickup device which can simultaneously attain reduction of the power voltage and pulse voltage and also fast transfer of the signal charge. SOLUTION: The flickering light sources (R), (G) and (B) successively emit the light, and the signal charges (R), (G) and (B) which are generated at the pixels PE1, PE2... are temporarily stored in the storage gates SG11-SG13 and SG21-SG23...and then transferred to the horizontal transfer registers HTR via the shift gates SH11, SH21.... Thus, the signal pixels are given to the registers HTR via the storage gates corresponding to the number of colors of the flickering light sources, so that the number of transfer electrodes can be increased per pixel. Then the transfer length is reduced per stage and the transfer speed can be increased.
