A teat cup (2) for milking a teat of an animal to be milked has at least a portion of its length flexible and/or deformable (9) in such a manner that one end of the teat cup may be bent to a non-vertical position such as in the direction of the other end of the teat. The deformable/flexible portion of the teat can be a vulcanized spring (12). A milking robot having a robot arm with at least one teat cup as defined above is also disclosed.
