<p>From phosphotic rock, the 2-stage process involves: (1) deposition of C on fluidised phosphate particles by cracking hydrocarbons below the temperature at which reduction occurs; (2) reduction of phosphate and volatilisation of phosphorus in a mleting furnace. Silica particles are mixed with the phosphate before (1) or (2) if necessary. The hydrocarbon gases leaving the hydrocarbon-cracking fluidised bed are used to pre-heat the phosphate particles, and to calcine them.</p> |
