摘要 <p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical device which can be excited only by the intensity of light and controls the light itself without using an electric field or current, which has a display function with high contrast ratio and high quality, which can be formed into a large display screen and further, which makes integrated light emission and operation possible, and which is equipped with a light-exiting mechanism in which the light guided to the optical switching part can efficiently made to exit at a desired exiting angle with the dependence on the viewing angle is taken into consideration. SOLUTION: The optical device has at least an optical display function and has a plurality of first optical waveguides (or optical fibers) 32, a plurality of second optical waveguides (or optical fibers) 33 perpendicular or almost perpendicular to the first optical waveguides (or optical fibers) 32, and an optical switch which is formed on each intersection of the first and second optical waveguides (optical fibers) 32, 33 and which is excited by the intensity of the laser light 4 and UV rays guided through the respective optical waveguides (or optical fibers). The outside and/or inside of the optical switch 3 is provided with a means to change the optical path such as a reflector 36 so that the light in the first optical waveguide 32 or the second optical waveguide 33 can be made to exit to the outside by the optical switch 3 and the reflector 36.</p>
