摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a cathode-ray tube, that can prevent stiffness of the grid composing a cathode-prefocus lens of its electron gun from lowering or thermal deformation which tend to develop, even when reducing diameter of an aperture for the electron beam passing through, its operation method and its manufacturing method. SOLUTION: This cathode-ray tube 10 is equipped with an electron gun 18 that has plate-shaped grids 26 and 28, through which holes for having the electron beam 20 emitted from a cathode 24 to pass through is provided within a cylindrical portion 14 of a glass envelope. Grids 26 and 28 have a flexible portion 46, engaging with a retaining member within the cylindrical portion 14, the first metal plate 44 with an aperture 44a in the inside, and the second plate 38 that has holes 34 and 36 for fine electron beam to pass through, formed slightly larger than the inside hole of the first plate at the center, and made by a plate material for semiconductors, and whose periphery is superposed with the periphery of the hole of the first plate 44 and fixed thereto.
