PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for condition setting of a transparent confinement medium nozzle for flowing a confinement medium, in the laser shock peening of a work piece. SOLUTION: Setting is made by a step A for causing the confinement medium to flow through the confinement medium nozzle 123 and setting the flow rate of the confinement medium, a step B for positioning the nozzle 123 to flow the confinement medium on a surface 154 to be worked through the nozzle 123, and a step for measuring the thickness of the confinement medium layer on the surface 154 to be worked, using an ultrasonic transducer attached to the side wall 148 of the workpiece opposite to the surface 154 to be worked. |
