Use of an N6-(epoxycycloalkyl) adenosine compound of formula VIII, IX or X or a derivative thereof, and a pharmaceutically acceptable carrier, in the manufacture of a medicament for use as an A1 adenosine receptor agonist. Also described is the use of an N6-(epoxycycloalkyl) adenosine compound of formula VIII, IX or X or a derivative thereof, and a pharmaceutically acceptable carrier, in the manufacture of a medicament for use in slowing the A-V conduction in the heart.
