PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a flaw detector for wire rope capable of being simply and rapidly installed and operated and provided at a low cost. SOLUTION: The flaw detector for wire rope comprises an induction type sensor coil 1 for scanning the rope W, an AC bridge circuit 5 having the coil 1 on one side and being regulated unbalancedly, a low frequency oscillator 6 for driving the bridge circuit 5, a signal amplifier 7 for amplifying an output voltage from the bridge circuit 5, a signal processor 8 for comparing the signal from the amplifier 7 with a reference value to detect a fault, and a warning means 10 for generating an alarm according to an alarm signal from the processor 8.
