PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an odor distinguishing apparatus capable of measuring an odor component in a lingering odor involved in a base note. SOLUTION: In a state where a flow channel from a gas sensor chamber 1 for normal measurement is connected to the side of a discharge flow channel 8 and a zero gas is supplied to a gas sensor chamber 2 for lingering odor measurement by opening a valve V3, a sample gas is introduced from a sample gas flow channel 4 into a gas sensor chamber 1 through a valve V1 to be measured. The valve V1 is then switched over to supply the zero gas from a zero gas flow channel 6a into the gas sensor chamber 1, thereby expelling the sample gas from the gas sensor chamber 1 and discharging through the valve V2 and the discharge flow channel 8. After a lapse of desired time after started expulsion of the sample gas from the gas sensor chamber 1, the valve 3 is closed and the valve V2 is switched over, thereby a lingering odor component remained in the gas sensor chamber 1 is introduced into the gas sensor chamber 2 to be measured.
