Provided is an apparatus for converting an ordinary whiteboard into an electronic whiteboard, which includes attaching a sensor array to the edge of the whiteboard, the sensor array providing a tracking function to determine the position of the marking implement on the writing surface. The apparatus further comprises an eraser for use with such a whiteboard includes a handle 100, two transmitters 103, and an erasing edge 102. This arrangement is said to enable the user to precisely control the area erased as it appears on the electronic whiteboard.
