The alternator output rectifier (16) has three electrical terminals (30), each connected to a different alternator phase (U,V,W), as well as to the anode of at least a first diode (36) and to the cathode of a second diode (38). The first (36) and second (38) diodes are each electrically connected and fixed directly to the corresponding terminal (30). The connections to the diodes may be brazed or glued using an electrically conducting glue . Both diodes (36,38) may be fitted on the same face or opposite faces of the corresponding terminal. The cathode of the first diode (36) and the anode of the second diode (38) electrically connected to the different phases (U,V,W) are respectively connected to a positive (50) and negative (52) conducting plaque. At least one of these plaques (50,52) is connected to a heat sink (58), which may be of a ribbed type or be in the form of a pipe through which a cooling fluid circulates
