PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a fixing device prevented from damaging a recording medium in the case of fixing an image formed on the recording medium. SOLUTION: A spur 70 is rotatably fixed on a separation pawl 54. The spur 70 rotates so that its outer periphery may partially project to a carrying path 68 further than the paper passing surface 54c of the pawl 54. Since the spur 70 is constituted to rotate even when small external force acts on the spur 70, it rotates even when the recording medium comes in contact with it.
