PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent production of AC afterimages caused by deterioration of an alignment film by repeated driving of a liquid crystal panel. SOLUTION: In the device, a first substrate SUB1 has a counter electrode CT formed on the surface of the almost entire pixel region and has pixel electrodes PX approximately formed into a comb-like form on the counter electrode CT with a protective film PSV interposed therebetween. An alignment film ORI1 of a hard film is formed by oblique vapor deposition of materials such as silicon nitride(SiN) and silicon oxide(SiO2) on the interface of the first substrate SUB1 to be in contact with a liquid crystal layer LC.
