PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a solid electrolytic capacitor which can suppress increase in short circuits and leakage currents and can contribute to the improvement of the yield and characteristics of a product. SOLUTION: In the solid electrolytic capacitor, a coating treated layer 16, composed of an organic or inorganic insulating material, is formed or a heat shrinkable tube is put on the surface of the round bar section 13 and its vicinity of an anode-side tab terminal 10, on which an aluminum oxide coating film is formed by chemical conversion, so as to suppress the increase of short circuits and leakage currents by means of the layer 16 or tube.
