The invention relates to a power plant having reciprocating heat engine, applicable to high altitude or underwater propulsion. According to the invention, the power plant is provided with a reciprocating heat engine (1) for driving a propulsion element (8), the discharge gases being cooled in a heat exchanger (2) and enriched with oxygen taken from a liquid oxygen tank (3), dosed by a proportioning device (4) and reintroduced into the feed circuit of the reciprocating heat engine (1).
