<p>The present invention is a liquid handling member, which comprises a first zone and a second zone connected to a suction device, wherein the second zone circumscribes a second zone volume which is at least to 50 % filled with a non-liquid fluid, and wherein the first zone and the second zone are separated by a membrane assembly which is capable of maintaining a pressure differential between the second zone and the first zone without permitting air to penetrate from said first zone to said second zone. The assembly comprises further a first porous membrane region oriented towards the first zone, and a second region oriented towards the second zone, which is capable of holding liquid, and which is in liquid communication with the pores of said porous membrane region.</p> |
