<p>The invention concerns an electromagnetic retarder (1) with Foucault currents, designed to brake the rotation of a motor vehicle crankshaft driven about its axis (X). Said retarder comprises a field winding stator (4) coaxial to the crankshaft and integral with the front wall (3a) of the engine crankcase (3), said stator (4) comprising an annular component (14, 15) whereon is arranged at least an electromagnet field winding (5), and an armature rotor (2) integral in coaxial rotation with the crankshaft, so as to present a peripheral surface opposite the field winding (5). The retarder (1) is fixed to the engine crankcase (3) by a frame (19).</p> |
