1,240,023. Windscreen wipers. REGIE NATIONALE DES USINES RENAULT and AUTOMOBILES PEUGOT. 16 July, 1969 [7 Aug., 1968], No. 35932/69. Heading A4F. [Also in Division H2] When switch 3 engages contact m, a motor M is continuously energized to drive a windscreen wiper. When the contact a is engaged, the motor keeps rotating until a cam 1 closes contacts 2c whereby the armature is short-circuited provided that contacts 5a are closed. Closure of a rheostat switch 4 energizes a heating-wire 6 through contact arm 7, expansion of the wire causing spring 8 to move the arm 7 from contact 5a to contact 5b after a period of delay. The motor is re-started so that the cam 1 closes contacts 2a and the motor continues to be energized in series with solenoid 9. Arm 7 is then attracted to re-close the contacts 5a and prepare for the next cycle of operations. In another arrangement, the wire 6 is insulated from arm 7 and is connected directly to the arm of switch 2. The solenoid 9 is replaced by a snap-action spring associated with the arm 7. The cooling of the wire 6 is retarded by connecting an additional resistor between the junction of elements 6, 11, and earth, Fig. 2 (not shown). |
