Apparatus determining wide range of physiological parameters by rapid-response measurement of oxygen partial pressure in respired air

An oxygen sensor is located in the principal flow path of the air respired. It measures virtually the instantaneous oxygen partial pressure over one or more breaths. A signal which is a mathematical function of this value (possibly directly proportional), is relayed to an electronic analysis instrument, where various physiological parameters are determined. An Independent claim is included for corresponding equipment, including an electrochemical oxygen sensor and an electronic analysis unit. The oxygen sensor is galvanically- or potentiostatically operated.
