The system has several network nodes, which each have a coupling element, and at least one station. Each coupling element has (7) to control the buffers. The traffic control generates and exchanges traffic control cells, which contain information about at least the ring buffer with adjacent coupling elements. The traffic control is provided to organise the storage of cells in the buffers according to the information about the ring buffers and information from the adjacent coupling elements.
